Artefacts

The two artefacts presented below represent some of the works that I have done in high school and in university.

Senior Project

At the American International School/Dhaka, the Senior Project is a mandatory class that all students in their final year of high school must take. Students are given the opportunity to choose any topic they like in relation to one of the prevalent issues in Bangladesh. At the end of the year, students present their topic in a 15-minute presentation given to an audience of peers and a panel of guest experts.

Elves Sub-Culture

This was a group project undertaken for this particular class: BHS3000 Digital Selves. The aim was to use our online identities located in-world on Second Life to collaborate and to achieve the end result of a presentation. The challenge was to only meet through either instant messaging services (such as MSN) or through the use of our in-world identities which we created in order to participate in class. The group I was in chose to focus on the Elves sub-culture in Second Life, and my task in the group was to create the end product (the link above).

Reflection: The first piece of work was my greatest accomplishment in the final year of school. It symbolizes the beginning of my interest in social work and it is eventually what led me to pursue an education in this field of work (or at least a similar field of work) in university. I believe this piece shows the stability of my mindset, as once I am determined to accomplish something, I go for it wholeheartedly. I believe the second piece of work demonstrates my ability to work as a team, even though no face-to-face communication or real-life interaction was exchanged between me and my team members (as per the requirements of the assignment). I believe it truly demonstrates the ability to overcome any 'obstacles' should it arise.
